5 HELPFUL tips for Preparing you and your family for Your Photo Session!
- Make a nail, hair, and/or a makeup appointment before your session. These may seem like small and minor details, but we want everything to be perfect. If you are looking and in need of recommendations for a hair or makeup artist. I highly recommend @Stephanie_juado_makeup or @Lizzayy_themua on Instagram for makeup as well as @iguessalexia on Instagram for hair.
- Plan your outfits in advance. If you are planning on ordering something online, please be sure to have more than enough time for it to arrive on time for your session. Do not wait till the last minute to plan outfits, you want to feel prepared on the day of your session. If you are needing any advice or color recommendations to wear, please feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to help! I know how difficult choosing an outfit can be, we're not all fashion designers am I right?
- Think about any specific props, heirlooms, or any specific type of images that you want to be captured. You are more than welcome to bring a special prop that may hold a special meaning or memory to your family such as a handmade heirloom quilt or even your child’s first blanket, or stuffed animal. This may also help keep your child to be happy and cooperative during your session. Some families may have seen a specific pose or image online that they are wanting to recreate. If you may have any of these specific poses or images that you like, please be sure to share them with me prior to your session.
- Prepare your husband and kids and let them know what's happening. Let the kiddos know that you will be “hanging out with your friend Jacob on Saturday” or that “we will be going to the park” we want the kids to look forward to your photo session! Remind dad to be a joyful participant. I know many dads DREAD taking photos and usually are just dragged along, but please help them understand how important capturing your family is. These photos will be left as a legacy to your children when they grow up or may even end up in someone else’s home. Whatever the case may be please be sure your husband is just as excited as you are on the day of your session. Even if that means he may need a couple of drinks before to loosen up ;)
- Be sure to get a good night’s rest the night before your session. If you feel tired you will look tired and remember we want everyone to look their best! For the kiddos I would recommend considering a nap before the shoot. Little humans tend to get fussy when tired and we want them happy and on their best behavior during your session.
